Remember

You are to remember everything of the way in which ADONAI led you these forty years in the desert, humbling and testing you in order to know what was in your heart – whether you would obey his mitzvot or not.  He humbled you, allowing you to become hungry, and then fed you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had ever known, to make you understand that a person does not live on food alone but on everything that comes from the mouth of ADONAI.  During these forty years the clothing you were wearing didn’t grow old, and your feet didn’t swell up.  Think deeply about it: ADONAI was disciplining you, just as a man disciplines his child.  So obey the mitzvot of ADONAI your God, living as he directs and fearing him. For ADONAI your God is bringing you into a good land, a land with streams, springs and water welling up from the depths in valleys and on hillsides.

Deuteronomy 8:2-7

The lessons that you are learning today are preparing you for your future.

Yesterday at chapel, God reminded me of two specific instances in my past where He taught me something that I need to get through what I’m facing now.

The first is this: What we SEE is NOT necessarily what IS.

It’s easy to feel hopeless when things don’t look like what you expected, hoped for or were promised. Trust anyways.

The second thing He taught me is that He is the master of time, so if I quit worrying and striving to get everything done “on time” and focus on worshiping Him and serving joyfully, he will take care of the rest.

I also realized another thing- just because you’re still fighting battles doesn’t mean you haven’t made it to the promised land. In fact, for the Israelites, the majority of the battles didn’t begin UNTIL they made it there.

Keep fighting the good fight.

And remember what God has already told you.
